Why iOS Install Is Different from Android
On Android you download an APK and install it. Simple. Apple uses a closed ecosystem — there's no APK format for iOS, and the App Store is the only officially sanctioned distribution channel. MovieBox isn't on the App Store (and won't be, given its content model).
But Apple does allow two alternatives that don't require jailbreaking. AltStore is a third-party app store that uses your Apple ID to sign apps onto your device. TestFlight is Apple's official beta testing platform. Both work without voiding your warranty or permanently modifying your device.
The trade-off is extra steps and occasional maintenance. AltStore-installed apps using a free Apple ID need refreshing every 7 days. TestFlight links can expire. These are real limitations worth knowing upfront — not deal-breakers, just normal maintenance. Compare this with MovieBox for Android if simplicity is your priority.
Method 1: AltStore — Most Reliable
AltStore is the recommended method. It's reliable, maintained, and doesn't require any paid Apple Developer account.
Install AltStore Server on Your PC or Mac
Visit altstore.io and download AltStore for Windows or Mac. Install it like any regular application. On Mac it appears in the menu bar; on Windows it runs in the system tray.
Connect iPhone via USB & Open iTunes or Finder
Plug your iPhone into your PC or Mac with an official Apple cable. Trust the computer prompt on your iPhone. On Windows, iTunes must be installed (get it from the Microsoft Store — not the Apple website version, which lacks the necessary drivers). On Mac, use Finder.
Install AltStore Onto Your iPhone
Click the AltStore icon in the menu bar/taskbar and select Install AltStore. Enter your Apple ID when prompted. AltStore uses it only to sign the app — it doesn't store your credentials. AltStore appears on your iPhone home screen in about 30 seconds.
Download the MovieBox IPA File
Download the MovieBox IPA file to your iPhone (via Safari) or to your PC. IPA files are the iOS equivalent of APK files — they're the app package format Apple devices use.
Sideload MovieBox via AltStore
Open AltStore on your iPhone → tap My Apps → tap the + button → navigate to the MovieBox IPA file → tap it to begin installation. The install takes about 1 minute.
Trust the Developer Certificate
This is the most critical step — see the full section below. Without it, MovieBox crashes immediately on launch.
Method 2: TestFlight
TestFlight is Apple's official beta testing platform. If a MovieBox TestFlight invite link is currently active, it's actually the easiest installation method — just tap the invite link and follow Apple's standard TestFlight flow.
The catch: TestFlight invite links for apps like MovieBox expire or get revoked when Apple removes them. Check this page or MovieBox community forums for a current invite link. The method itself is straightforward once you have the link.
Install TestFlight from App Store
Search "TestFlight" in the App Store and install Apple's official TestFlight app. It's free.
Open a Valid MovieBox TestFlight Link
Tap an active MovieBox TestFlight invite link in Safari. If the link is valid, it opens TestFlight and shows an "Accept" button.
Accept and Install
Tap Accept then Install. TestFlight installs MovieBox like any normal app. No certificate trusting needed — TestFlight handles that automatically.
Enable Streaming Mode
Same as Android — go to Me → Settings → Watch → enable Streaming before your first video.
TestFlight links expire and new ones are posted periodically. Bookmark this page to check for updated links when needed.
Trusting the App Certificate — Don't Skip This
This is the step that trips up most iPhone users and that almost no tutorial explains properly. After installing MovieBox via AltStore, the app won't open — it crashes immediately. That's because iOS requires you to explicitly trust the developer certificate.
Exact path: Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → find the developer name under "Enterprise App" → tap Trust → tap Trust again to confirm.
If you don't see a "VPN & Device Management" option in General, check that MovieBox actually installed successfully — it only appears after an app from an outside developer is on the device.
Skipping the certificate trust step is why 90% of people say MovieBox crashes on launch on iPhone. It's not a bug — it's Apple's security requiring explicit user approval. Takes 10 seconds to fix.
One more thing: if you see a message saying the developer is "not trusted," tap the developer name → tap Trust. If the trust option is greyed out or missing, your iPhone may be managed by an organization (like a school or employer) — managed devices restrict developer certificates. Use a personal Apple ID device instead.
iOS Troubleshooting
"Untrusted Developer" Error
You haven't trusted the certificate yet. Go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → tap the developer name → Trust. This is the #1 iOS issue.
App Was Revoked / Won't Open After Days of Working
The AltStore certificate expired (7-day limit on free Apple IDs). Connect iPhone to PC → open AltStore Server → open AltStore on iPhone → go to My Apps → refresh MovieBox. Takes 1 minute.
AltStore Won't Connect to Server
Your iPhone and PC must be on the same Wi-Fi network for AltStore to refresh. Plug in via USB as backup. Make sure the AltStore Server app is running in the menu bar/taskbar on your PC.
Can't Find the IPA File
If you downloaded to Safari, the IPA is in Files → Downloads. In AltStore, tap the + button → it opens the Files app → navigate to Downloads and select the IPA.
App Crashes Immediately After Trusting
Force close the app (swipe up from app switcher), delete it, and reinstall via AltStore. A corrupted install during sideloading sometimes causes this. A clean reinstall usually fixes it.

Worth the Extra Steps
iOS install is genuinely more involved than Android. There's no sugarcoating that. AltStore takes time to set up, the certificate needs refreshing, and there's no "just tap install" simplicity. But once it's running, MovieBox on iPhone is excellent — the K-drama and anime libraries alone justify the effort for millions of users who can't find this content anywhere else free.
